BTW season two (I think) he was shot by a man named Moriarty. In the first episode, his first patient was Rachel Adler. At some point James Wilson (John Watson!) lies about a patient named Irene Adler that House never got over. Foreman (I think) says “Really?” and Wilson exclaims “No! That’s a character from Sherlock Holmes!”
There are several other references, google for them. Some cool stuff.
I wish House wasn’t a single child though. I can’t even imagine the Mycroft they would have had.
The fact that Stephen Fry never guest starred once is a crying shame. Ah well.
I heard a rumour ages ago that Stephen Fry was going to guest star as House’s smarter brother, but the scheduling never worked out.

Harry Potter Inspired Lumos and Nox Lightswitch Plate
This hand-painted lightswitch plate can work wonders. Simply flick the switch up and it casts the spell Lumos; a flick down and it cancels out the first spell with Nox. I’m sure The Burrow has these. Sold at Etsy.
